Our Practice

At Child Health Associates, we are open and fully staffed Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. We are also open evenings and weekends for urgent care visits only. We gladly accept newborns, children and adolescents to our practice. If you are an existing patient, we will continue to follow you until you have graduated college or are 22 years of age. We do not accept new patients over the age of fifteen.

Appointments

Telephone System

  • During the week, our phone lines go live at 8 a.m. If you feel your child needs a same-day sick appointment, we advise calling in the morning for optimal appointment availability. Monday is our busiest day in terms of call volume, so we ask any non-urgent calls be made later in the week if possible. We also encourage the use of MyChart for medication refills and asking non-urgent medical questions.

On-Call and Answering Service 

  • On weekdays after 4:15 p.m., all calls are directed through our answering service. From 4:15 p.m. to 10 p.m. a nurse from CHA will call you back regarding your concerns. From 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. a nurse from our on-call service, Night Nurse, will return your call.
    • On the weekends, all calls are directed through our answering service from Friday at 4:15 p.m. through Monday at 8 a.m. Child Health nurses begin taking calls at 7:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and after that are transferred to our on-call service Night Nurse as we do during the week.

Weekend Hours

  • On the weekends, we are open for urgent care visits only in the Auburn location. It is our policy that these appointments are booked same day only and cannot be pre-booked. If you feel your child will need to be seen on the weekend, please call the office after 7:30 a.m. to book an appointment. Please note that these appointments are only booked on an as needed basis and are booked in order.  The office remains open until at least 11 a.m. both Sunday and Saturday based on call volume.  If needed, we will schedule appointments until 1:30 p.m. at the latest. For the best appointment opportunity, please call as soon as you can after 7:30 a.m. as these appointments fill fast, especially during cold and flu season.

Our billing department submits all claims as a courtesy to commercial insurance companies. This is not a guarantee that our physicians are contracted providers.

Referrals

Patients who are members of an HMO or PPO must obtain approval from their primary care physician before seeing a specialist. An advanced notice of 72 hours is required for approval, except for emergency room visits. This allows us time to verify and submit the necessary documentation. Please note that if you arrive to the specialist without the necessary authorization you may be asked to reschedule and/or pay for the visit.

Any new patient must be seen in our office before a referral can be made.

Please contact our office at least 72 hours in advance of your specialist appointment and provide us with the specialists name and the date and time of your appointment.

If our office has scheduled a specialist appointment for you, we will also process the insurance referral. You are always welcome to contact our office to ensure that your referral and insurance authorization have been processed.

Holiday Hours

On the following minor holidays, we are open for urgent care visits and operate similar to the weekends.  Appointments are only booked in the Auburn office and are booked on an as needed basis and are booked in order. Our office begins to take incoming calls at 8 a.m., with our first appointment scheduled for 9 a.m. If needed, we will schedule appointments until 12:45 p.m. the latest. For the best appointment opportunity on minor holidays, please call as soon as you can after 8 a.m. as these appointments fill fast, especially during cold and flu season.
